SEASON OF HOPE

MY THOUGHTS

This is the first novel I have read by this author, and let me tell you she did not disappoint. She brings the characters to life and makes them feel like old friends.

Hope Stockton is a single mom trying to overcome her mistakes and failures from the past. She needs to learn to accept forgiveness, but is allowing guilt to get the best of her. Hope feels unworthy of God’s love and because of that, she has put up walls and barriers around her heart and all aspects of her life. Then, she meets Pastor Josh Lewis, and he is struggling with his own issues in life. But, Hope soon realizes that God is the only one who can heal her heart. As the story progresses, both Hope and Pastor Josh turn to God for answers. Redemption, restoration and forgiveness happen and the walls and barriers come tumbling down.

This story is set just after the Vietnam War and the historical aspects of the story are spot on. As the author pulls you in to the story, you find yourself feeling for Hope and celebrate when she finally accepts God’s forgiveness.

I really like this author, I like the storylines she chooses to tell and I like her writing style especially her vivid descriptions of people and places.  I will definitely read more books written by this author.  Thank you Carol James for such a great story….well done and please keep them coming.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Hope Stockton’s life is dead, frozen in a winter of guilt, deceit, and fear. When handsome young pastor, Josh Lewis, comes to serve in her church, she wonders if she can trust him with her past. Will he be able to help her answer the questions that have been buried in her heart for years? Or will his own secrets drive them apart and prevent him from helping Hope find her spring of forgiveness?

Set in small town Texas in the years during and following the Vietnam war, Seasons of Hope is a story of forgiveness and restoration.

About Carol James

I love writing inspirational fiction, in particular redemptive romance. I live, and have lived, for over forty years, in a small town outside of Atlanta, Georgia, with my husband, Jim, and a perky Jack Russell “Terrorist” named Zoe. (I guess you could say I’m not much for change.) An English/education major, I’ve taught students as young as kindergarteners and as old as high school seniors. Having always loved good stories with happy endings, I was moved to begin writing as a ministry, to encourage people as I’ve been encouraged by the works of other authors of inspirational fiction.

Retired from my “real” job, I enjoy spending time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. My husband and I love to travel and have visited forty-nine of the fifty states (all but Hawaii) with our traveling buddies. I volunteer at a nearby school and serve in the production department at my church. (I’m the person who puts the words up on the screen – Imagine that!). I’m a soccer fan extraordinaire and keep my DVR busy recording Atlanta United and English Premier League games. And, most days in the late hours of the night or the wee hours of the morning, you will find me bringing my newest novel to life.
